THIS IS MY 30TH BOX FROM UPPERCASE!
Uppercase Box is the subscription service I have been subscribed to for the longest period of time. I became a member in January of 2015. That means I only missed their first 5 boxes. I have seen this company blossom and evolve and it’s been glorious. For $23/month you receive a brand new hardcover book that is autographed or a bookplate signed by the author, 1-2 exclusive bookish items, reading experience with bonus content, & a nice letter to tell you why the book was chosen, etc. They also offer a Book Exclusive Plan that includes the book (signed or book plate), the letter, and bonus content. That plan is $13.99/month for a limited time. They also offer popular add on items each month. One of the best selling points of Uppercase Box is their low price point. What you get for the money you spend is 100% worth it.
The June box included:
- hardcover copy of Song of the Current by Sarah Tolcser (signed)
- Song of the Current map
- Reading Adventure tote bag designed by Allison Cole (exclusive)
- book nerd enamel pin from Jubly-Umph (exclusive)
With this being my 30th box from Uppercase I realize my desire to be a rep for them is strong. Why? Well, because I obviously believe in this subscription company. I have stuck with them since January of 2015. I’ve written about them several times here on the blog. I have posted 11 unboxing videos on my YouTube channel. I regularly post pictures featuring the contents of their monthly boxes and feature their goodies in countless other photos as well. I am basically doing all the duties required of a typical rep without getting the credit (or free boxes). I thought about discontinuing my subscription for July through September because I won’t be getting a pay check until the end of September (life of a private school teacher) but I just couldn’t bring myself to miss even one of their boxes. So my wallet will weep but it will survive. Mentioning rep opportunities (I really need to expand on this idea another time) but I have the absolute worse luck with the #bookstagram rep opportunities. Anyways I never heard of this month’s book pick so let’s see…
Song of the Current by Sarah Tolcser
Caroline Oresteia is destined for the river. For generations, her family has been called by the river god, who has guided their wherries on countless voyages throughout the Riverlands. At seventeen, Caro has spent years listening to the water, ready to meet her fate. But the river god hasn’t spoken her name yet—and if he hasn’t by now, there’s a chance he never will.
Caro decides to take her future into her own hands when her father is arrested for refusing to transport a mysterious crate. By agreeing to deliver it in exchange for his release, Caro finds herself caught in a web of politics and lies, with dangerous pirates after the cargo—an arrogant courier with a secret—and without the river god to help her. With so much at stake, Caro must choose between the life she always wanted and the one she never could have imagined for herself.
From debut author Sarah Tolcser comes an immersive and romantic fantasy set along the waterways of a magical world with a headstrong heroine determined to make her mark. (Goodreads)
