Every Little Thing: A Flat Vernacular Coloring Book by Payton Cosell Turner
Published November 3rd, 2015 by Potter Style (first published October 27th, 2015).
Enter a magical world filled with your favorite things. From a retro dreamscape of candy, toys, and typewriters to a joyful parade of woodland creatures, each page of this hand-drawn coloring book is it’s own kaleidoscope-like adventure. (back cover)
This is a coloring book that you’ll either love or hate. I personally love it. The simple, yet repetitious line drawings are whimsical and psychedelic. I know not everyone will be a fan of the organic style of Turner’s drawings, but it’s definitely not something I have in any of my other coloring books. It has a removable slipcover, but you’ll probably need more than colored pencils to color it. The dust jacket has a shiny finish rather than matte. What you see on the cover is exactly what you’ll get inside. So in this case, you can judge a book by its cover. If you’re seeking intricate patterns and drawings this is not for you. But if you love lots of white space and are looking to zen out I would recommend this one.
