I’ve been crushing on this cover since its release on November 4th, 2014 – possibly before. The lead designer, Alison Klapthor, and her team did an incredible job. If you look closely you see paper textures towards the bottom of the Russian city. The juxtaposition of the world and organic shapes of the cities (including a future London and Moscow) really draw the reader in and make them want to know more. Plus watercolors are so in right now. Alison Klapthor credits Craig Shields, the artist saying he only went through a few composites before they settled on the final design. There was such an outpouring of positive feedback regarding the cover Claudia Gray and Alison Klapthor were interviewed by Epic Reads regarding the success of the cover. Make sure to check out both of those interviews. Although the final cover is amazing and one of my very favorites, the other versions Craig created were amazing as well (see below). The cover of Ten Thousand Skies Above You is just as amazing. I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy November 3rd, 2015.
