Camp NaNoWriMo 2016

Last November I finally got a story idea that I wanted to write. I did a tiny bit of brainstorming (names, timeline, plot) and wrote about 1000 words or so and then called it quits. I haven’t forgotten about the story and now I want to give it another go. In November I wrote everything in a small notebook. At the beginning of the month I typed what I had into Word. I do not have a writing program (yet). But now I am stuck. It feels weird knowing what I want the end result to be for the most part or the moral of the story, but not knowing how the story gets to that point. I have characters and place names, but I am struggling.

So I guess you could say I am officially participating in Camp NaNoWriMo this year. I think more than writing though I need to figure out how to brainstorm, how to write and how to get from point A to point B in this novel. The thing is I have never written nor have I ever taken a writing class. So this should be interesting.

I don’t know how much I will actually accomplish this month if I am being honest with myself, but I would like to make a concentrated effort to work on this story. So while I do not have a word count goal my goals for the month are:

know names & descriptions of all the characters

know the time period/timeline of the story

figure out if I want it to be a short story or a full-length novel FULL LENGTH NOVEL

flesh out a plot/know major & minor story bits

beef up my writing vocabulary

re-read ________ book for inspiration

watch _________ movie for inspiration

Pieced this outfit inspiration together for my main character.

Josie

So that’s all I really have right this moment. I’m sitting at about 1668 words as of April 3rd. I’ll update again soon.
