To kick start my January, I am participating in the Bout of Books 15 Read-a-Thon. You can see my initial post about it here. I thought it would be a good idea to update daily and let everyone know how I am doing as the week progresses. This post will be updated as the week continues.
The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 4th and runs through Sunday, January 10th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 15 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team
Day 1 – January 4th
Read: 194 pages (Finished The Winner’s Curse & started The Handmaiden’s Tale)
Challenge: Introduce Yourself #insixwords
Day 2 – January 5th
Read: 128 pages (started Remember Me?)
Challenge: Writing My Own Fairy Tale — Would You Rather
Would you rather: Lend books to someone who dog-ears pages or to someone who reads with cheesy Cheetos fingers?
Would you rather: Be able to meet one character of your choice or meet one author of your choice?
author of my choice (but now I have to think about picking just one)
Would you rather: Never be allowed in a book store again or never be allowed in a library again?
ugh this question is hard! I will have to say book store.
Would you rather: Have to choose one of your favorite characters to die in their book or have to pick one of your favorite couples to break up in their book?
one of my favorite couples to break up.
Would you rather: Be required to read Twilight once a year for the rest of your life or The Scarlet Letter once a year for the rest of your life?
I have not read either, but I’ll go with Twilight.
Day 3 – January 6th
Read: 76 pages (continued Remember Me?)
Challenge: Ranty Runt of a Reader — The Rainbow Challenge
Day 4 – January 7th
Read: 162 pages (continued Remember Me?)
Challenge: Bingeing on Books — Villain Mash Up
I pick Joe from You by Caroline Kepnes and The Darkling from The Grisha Trilogy. Totally different villians but I think it would be interesting. I picked these two because they both play mind games. Joe is stalker crazy and could totally stalk and prey on The Darkling without The Darkling ever knowing he was an enemy. They might even become friends. I picked The Darkling because of his powers and it would be interesting to see if the Darkling could out maneuver Joe using those abilities.
Day 5 – January 8th
Read: 121 pages (finished Remember Me?, started City of Bones)
Challenge: The Book Monsters — Scavenger Hunt
Day 6 – January 9th
Read: 154 pages (continued City of Bones)
Challenge: Once Upon a Chapter — The Comfy Reading Spot
Ok, let me explain. I do 90% of my reading right in this very spot. Also, I have a yoga bed. Which I doubt you’ve heard of much less laid on, but let me tell you…it is heaven! If you’re ever in the market for a new mattress I highly recommend checking them out. **no this is not sponsored I just really love my bed!*
Day 7 – January 10th
Read: 302 pages (finished City of Bones, started Speak)
Challenge: No challenge — it’s a free day!
