A podcast is a digital medium consisting of an episodic series of audio, digital radio, PDF, or ePub files subscribed to and downloaded through web syndication or streamed online to a computer or mobile device.
Since I am not a huge fan of audio books (although I have listened to some good ones) I have turned to podcasts for short bookish moments where I don’t feel like burying my head in a book. This doesn’t happen often but it has been a great alternative for those moments. Last Thursday I listened to the final season one podcast of Serial. While I wasn’t exactly thrilled with the final episode, the series had me hooked from the first episode. I’m a lover of true crime, mystery, who dun it’s and this was right up my alley. Add to that the case they investigated happened in familiar territory and you better believe I was tuning in each week. It’s a rather new “hobby” of mine, but I have found a few bookish podcasts that I enjoy.
If you’re looking for something to listen to as you travel this holiday season check one or two of these podcasts. Links provided. And of course if you haven’t listened to Serial I highly, highly recommend that one as well! If you have other recommendations I would love to hear.
