With the release of Mockingjay Part 2 a little over a week ago most Hunger Game fans are saddened by the end of an era. Yes, the books are done and now the movie adaptations are over as well. It can be tough saying goodbye to one of your favorite franchises. I jumped on this bandwagon rather late into the game (no pun intended). My love for this series began with the movies. I saw The Hunger Games and Catching Fire in the theater before finally deciding I needed to read the trilogy. After seeing Catching Fire in the theater a few times I picked up the first book read it, went back for the second and third books. I read Catching Fire, but then waited a bit so a friend could catch up and read Mockingjay with me. She never caught up and I could only put off the final book for only so long. I had to know what happened!!
So now that the books and the movies are officially over what in the world are you supposed to do to feed your fandom needs? Check out plans for a Hunger Games theme park. That’s right. There are plans to build two Hunger Games inspired theme parks. One in Georgia near Atlanta and one in China near Macau. The park will have rides including a roller coaster through the capitol and a hovercraft tour of Panem, as well as other immersive experiences through virtual environments. It’s still in the very early stages, but Avatron and Lionsgate entertainment are going forward with a Hunger Games Theme Park to open in January 2019.
